    Servco seeks a Director of Software Engineering with a proven track record of delivering innovative world-class products within complex digital environments to re-invent our Servco customer facing experiences across our omnichannel platforms and applications. 

     

    As the Director of Software Engineering, you will lead and manage a development team in the delivery of mobile first, web and native app omnichannel customer experiences.  You will work to build elevated user interfaces and experiences that work seamlessly for customers across iOS, Android and Web.  You will lead the team in a continuous delivery, dev ops driven agile delivery environment.  This position will drive the execution of our digital vision of re-inventing the transportation service customer experience.  You will vet new technologies, frameworks and libraries and lead the architecture, design, and overall digital delivery development effort across agile teams, and ensure quality and performance standards are achieved to enable successful product launches and operations.  This is a hands on role, where you will have the opportunity to build great technical products and develop and manage a team to do the same. 

    Responsibilities

    • Lead the technical development and delivery of re-invented, innovative consumer-facing web and mobile device experiences across product development teams, operations, business stakeholders and creative teams
    • Provide technical leadership, both hands on development and guiding a team of internal and external developers in the evaluation, conceptualization, design, and development of major new capabilities
    • Participate in the development of the technology strategy for the Servco customer experience digital platform ensuring that technology decisions and trade-offs anticipate future needs while delivering on near term business objectives
    • Provide strong technical expertise in web and app native user experience architecture, presentation layer technologies and rich internet application technologies
    • Manage parallel development pipelines and a complex multi echelon digital sales and service platform to ensure high-quality and performant solution delivery
    • Establish and lead the code review process and maintain development standards
    • Ensure quality through design, process and the toolsets utilized throughout the CI/CD environment
    • Drive for continuous improvement in performance, scalability, extensibility, reliability, usability, and availability of the platform
    • Lead R&D and rapid prototyping efforts aimed at continuously rethinking and testing into revolutionary customer journey experiences
    • Design and implement continuous testing framework, anchored in automation and utilizing best in class testing frameworks from unit testing through post production regression testing
    • Leverage agile methodology concepts for delivery and continuous improvement
    • Manage partnerships for solution delivery including internal resources, agencies, and other external resources in a distributed development model
    • Partner with business stakeholders, product managers, and other cross functional leads to create and maintain a digital roadmap
    • Provide coaching and career development for development team members
    • Creatively overcome challenges to quickly get our products to market
    • Collaborate with internal and external UX (User Experience) experts on wireframes, interaction designs and customer experience journeys for upcoming product releases
    • Foster a culture of innovation, through proven techniques such as Hackathons, ideation sessions and embedding innovation in the development teams day to day

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
    • 7 years of experience in software engineering
    • 4 years of progressive experience leading or managing agile software development teams in a cloud native continuous delivery model (Azure, AWS, GCP)
    • Expertise in developing applications for iOS and/or Android
    • Expertise with modern architectures, frameworks, systems and processes that support e-Commerce capabilities such as event driven architectures, services architectures such as microservices, user interface frameworks such as React, application frameworks such as node.js
    • Expertise with React workflows (such as Redux)
    • Familiarity with React Native development
    • Expertise in developing with RESTful APIs
    • Familiarity with GraphQL
    • Experienced in designing and implementing Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) frameworks
    • Exposure to Typescript, Flow or statically typed languages
    • Experience with delivery methodologies in a fast-paced complex environment such as Agile and SCRUM
    • Experience working with applications developed with Microsoft .NET, C++, Java, Python, SQLServer
    • Expertise with test automation frameworks such as Selenium, Cucumber and others
    • Expertise architecting, building and operating scalable and highly available eCommerce customer experiences
    • Expertise with rapid prototyping in developing and deploying user interfaces in a mobile first and native app customer experiences
    • Ability to demonstrate experience with core Digital technologies and tools
    • Proven ability to think strategically, and to communicate the strategy to a large organization
    • Proven ability to turn strategy into reality through superior execution
    • Capability to develop technology professionals with high expectations, a collaborative style and a focus on continuous improvement, quality and planning
    • Strong skills in team leadership and building positive customer relationships
    • Track record of achievement, accountability and translating complex strategies into actionable plans
    • Excellent organizational skills, coupled with the proven ability to set priorities, manage deadlines, and make data-driven decisions
    • Sound judgement in assessing business risks and ability to make decisions that balance a variety of factors whilst always maintaining the integrity of the core values and business strategy
